From Germany with love

In these days – though it’s to be secret – Germany sold 200 (200!) tanks to Saudi-Arabia. This country is an important ally, so they said. Many people here thought: if only Taliban would have oil, they could as well have weapons from Germany. Germany is the world third biggest weapon-seller now. These tanks could well be used against the own population, or to opress protests in neighbouring countries. What’s about human rights there? People are sentenced to death and stoned in public, hands and feet are cut off, women are not even allowed to drive a car. Saudi-Arabia exports Salafism into the world. They gave millions of dollars to Bosnia and who knows whereelseto. Maybe they are backing extremism in Germany too?

Ben Ali, former president of Tunisia, fled to Saudi-Arabia. So did President Saleh from Yemen. Mubarak will need an exile too. Gaddafi and Assad will go to Iran though.

Turkish Parliament

In Ankara, the opening session of the national parliament - with oathtaking of the lawmakers - will probably happen on tuesday 28.6.2011 without 9 elected lawmakers:

from the CHP: Mustafa Balbay and Mehmet Haberal
from MHP: Engin Alan
from the independents: Gülşer Yıldırım, İbrahim Ayhan, Selma Irmak, Kemal Aktaş, Faysal Sarıyıldız, Hatip Dicle

Eight of them are in prison (mostly without any perspective to an approaching process), Dicle has been stripped of his deputyship due to a recently upheld terror conviction.

From the ruling party nobody is in prison.

by mistake

NATO by mistake bombed civilians in Tripolis. They apologized: “Must have been a mistake in our weapon-program...”

The police by mistake throw tear-gas and shot with water-cannons on school classes in Stuttgart. “Must have been a mistake in our methods...”

The secret police of Assad killed protesters. “By mistake our weapons were loaded...”

A north-german customer bought sprouts in a bakery. “It might have been a mistake?”

A jounalist by mistake wrote an anti-Semitic article. “Must be a mistake in my software?”

Manchester United by mistake took a goal. “Must have been wrong positions of our defenders?”

A girl by mistake invited the whole (facebook-) world to her birthday-party. “It was a misclick!”

A Turkish police commander raped a young woman. “It was a mistake in our interrrogation methods!”

Libya. Questions

• Did Gaddafi give money to have Sarkosy elected? Why dont the French Left mentions it?
• If the western powers interfere in Libya, where will they interfere next?
• Turning the question: would they interfere somewhere, where no petrol is to be found?
• Why do all the western powers suddenly hate Gaddafi? Didn’t they trade with him?
• Who is the Libyan opposition? Will there be democracy?
• How much costs a “Tomahawk”-cruising missile? Isn’t it needed to fire them sometimes?
• Who is killing civilians?
• Isn’t the NATO a defence-treaty? And why are they not ashamed to attac?
• How have the relations between Gaddafi and Berlusconi been? Why does Italy neglect its (unlucky) african past?
• Why did Obama get the Peace-Nobel-Price?

Dead

On Sunday the retired first islamic prime minister of Turkey, Necmettin Erbakan, died in Ankara. The actual Turkish PM will return earlier from Germany for the funerals of his mentor. The head of Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, Khaled Meshaal,  will attend the funeral too.

Erbakan was forced in 1997 to step back as PM by the army. Later he was convicted to prison because of fraud (but let’s remember, that people like Helmut Kohl or Otto Graf Lambsdorff hided millions too), then pardoned by our actual President, Abdullah Gül.

Lies

Our PM said about Ben Ali of Tunisia and Mubarak of Egypt, they should step down listening to the voices of their people. He did not say the same to Muammar Gaddafi of Libya though. Are these the special ties established between Turkey and Libya since Erbakan was PM? (Additionaly PM Erdoğan spoke against sanctions imposed to Libya).

Which of these statements is sincere, which not?

But, funny, Arabs stil hate the Turcs. And not for nothing, I suppose. “We will not leave our country to Italians or Turcs”, said Gaddafi on Television.

Turkish dreams of “Turkishness”, dreamed by our nationalists, have come to an end in Middle-Asia too. In fact Turkey opened schools everywhere in the southern split-away countries of the former Sovjet-Union, but when they turned out to be religious, the mostly secularist presidents there closed them again…..

In the army now

Armies seem to play a new role in the recent Arab turmoils. Usually with the governments or the powerful, they suddenly switch to the protesters against tyrants. In Egypt they took over after Mubarak stepped back, in Libya they are in parts “with the people”. What about armies in other countries?
